Absolute Wilderness Adventures

Tanzania Specialists, Based in Arusha.

Absolute Wilderness Travel and Tours is a tour operator company based in Arusha — a northern Tanzanian city that President Bill Clinton once qualified as "the Geneva of Africa" due to its hosting of many peace talks and conflict resolution conferences on the African continent — and which is also the centre of the northern tourist circuit.

The company specialises in the Tanzanian destination, but has partners for clients who wish to do any pre or post extension in neighbouring destinations such as Kenya, Rwanda for gorillas, Namibia, the Okavango Delta, and South Africa, among others.

"The wilderness doesn't belong to us. We belong to it."

The Mastermind Behind Absolute Wilderness

Henry Obed Mejooli

Made possible by the Burnod family of Switzerland

The founder, Henry Obed Mejooli, has extensive field experience in driving, guiding and accompanying large groups as Trip Leader, as well as other administrative posts in the tourism industry — coupled with business knowledge acquired through his studies at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, made possible thanks to the generous private sponsorship of the honourable Swiss family of Maurice and Verena Burnod.

Maurice & Verena Burnod — the honourable Swiss family whose generous private sponsorship made Henry's University of Fribourg education possible.

He obtained a Masters Degree in Economics (with distinction, Cum Laude) in 2010, with a thesis on "The Tourism Cluster in Tanzania" following the concept of the renowned Harvard Professor Michael Porter — whose lectures he attended through a Fribourg–Harvard Universities collaborative course.

"Our safari experiences are especially up close and personal."

What We Stand For

Four Principles. Every Safari.

Local Expertise

Every guide, driver, and camp and lodge manager is Tanzanian. We know the land because we live on it — the seasonal rhythms, the hidden waterholes, the roads that don't appear on any map.

Small Groups

We cap private safaris at 6 guests per vehicle. Fewer people means quieter game drives, more flexible timing, and a guide who can focus entirely on your experience.

Responsible Travel

We partner exclusively with camps and lodges that invest in conservation and community. A portion of every booking supports anti-poaching initiatives and local school programmes.

Genuine Flexibility

No two itineraries are identical. We build around your interests, your pace, and your budget — then adapt in the field when the wildlife has other plans.

Giving Back

We Give Back to the Society Around Us

Together with a Geneva-based Children of Tanzania Association, we participate in education development projects — helping schools build classrooms, dormitories, and teachers' houses, providing desks where there is a need, and sponsoring less privileged children for education.
